Unveiling a View:
For over 100 years this grand home has perched on a knoll overlooking Gloucester Harbor with the Boston skyline as a backdrop. This view was visible from the yard but was a well-kept secret when in the house. This project entailed completely reimagining the flow of the house, unveiling the view, all while preserving the majestic presence of the historic stone home on the hill. The owner, an avid swimmer, wanted to incorporate a pool into the entire experience. Our site design raised the grade so the pool
and terrace are an extension of the living space. The landscape design invites the owners to stroll from the pool down the gentle slope of their rear yard to the local beach. The interior design was tailored to accommodate the owners’ bold and colorful art collection. The house went from being a closed set of isolated rooms to an open and visually dynamic home that captures the commanding view from many vantage points.
