We approach architectural design as part of a larger context. Contextual design includes honoring and meeting your needs and weaving the design solutions seamlessly into the surroundings. Contextual design embraces not only the phsyical, but the social and community contexts of your project (from the intimate scale of family to the larger scale of neighborhood and community). A contextual approach to design eases and expedites permitting. It is often more economical and green. Most importantly, a contextual approach to design creates a more beautiful and harmonious result, and at the same time, enables you to express your unique vision and style. For this reason each of our projects is unique…unique to each owner’s vision and unique to the opportunities and assets of the individual site or location.

Responding to the natural environment – This carefully designed deck and trellis passively provides sun, shade, and wind protection at appropriate times of the day, month, and year as well as maintain privacy with an expansive ocean view. 
Before – Existing commercial / multi-use building in downtown Rockport.
After – Façade restoration and rooftop addition. This owner occupied building was restored to match a historic photo of the building. The top floor was renovated to create an owner’s unit.
